It's obvious that he and Shaun had great fun sourcing items for the interior. They spent every spare moment trawling auction rooms, local markets, antiques and charity shops to fill the massive space. 'We hired another empty barn and filled it sky high with lights, tables, chairs, stag heads, you name it,' says Russell.
Saddles and stone walls with Aztec throws and a Turkish carpet give this bedroom a feel of 'rancho deluxe'.
Although they had a bit of a plan, loosely referring to rooms as 'Little Red Riding Hood' or 'The 1970s Den' they decorated by intuition rather than strict design ideals. 'We didn't want the place to look overly themed and the end result is largely down to Shaun's instinctive talent,' says Russell.
With bookings already taken for next year, the child-friendly barn sees celebratory weekends for everything from anniversary dinners and birthdays to uber-stylish hen weekends - and is now paying its way very nicely. 'It's doing so well that we're talking to our friendly local bank manager about the next project now,' Russell adds. You heard it here first
